Gage W. Allam

Gage W. Allam, 100, a lifelong resident of Franklin, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 25.

Born in Franklin on August 24, 1916, Mrs. Allam was the daughter of the late Harry M. Wilson Sr. and Frances King Wilson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harry M. Wilson Jr, of Alliance, Ohio. She is survived by her nieces, Lynn Digby of Alliance, Ohio; Anne Lika of Essex, Vermont; and Martha Mayer of Cincinnati, Ohio; as well as 3 great nieces and a great nephew.

Mrs. Allam showed a lifelong interest in many things including art, law, politics, antiques, history, and a love of the natural world. She was an avid reader and her passion for learning led her to take coursework at the University of Oxford in England.

Her father was a breeder and trainer of champion English Setters, and in her early years she developed a love of dogs. Throughout her adult years she was never without a loyal canine companion, most of them being rescued.

Mrs. Allam lived most of her life in Franklin, and was active in the community. She was a founding member of The Franklin Historical Society, and was involved with the Franklin Museum. She was a real estate broker from 1972-1992.

No visitation will be held and interment will be private, as per the decedent’s wishes.

In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Allam’s family request that donations be sent to the Venango County Humane Society, PO Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301.
