584089c544c15Richard F. Moore, 89, of Kennerdell passed away at home on November 29, 2016.

Richard was born on March 20, 1927 to Fred and Charlotte Wheten Moore.

Richard graduated from high school in Rochester New York and began his military career. He first signed up for the Army but ended his career with Coast Guard, where he proudly served for 29 years. He sailed on many ships and served in Vietnam, Greece, Hawaii, New York, Boston, Maine, Long Beach, and Miami, where he earned many service related medals.

On February 29, 1949 Richard married his wife Elizabeth and they celebrated 52 years of marriage before her passing on June 6, 2001.

In addition to his 29 year military career, Richard retired from Carlow College as a maintenance supervisor. Richard enjoyed himself most when surrounded by his loving family and friends around the campfire or enjoying the river. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying all the nature that Kennerdell had to offer, with the lush fishing and hunting. He was an avid reader with the family dog Nakita at his side. Richard was a member of the VFW post 7840 Paul W Woods in Cherry Valley. He kept in close contact with his fellow servicemen by attending annual Coast Guard Reunions.

Loved ones left to cherish Richard’s memory are his son Dennis Moore and wife Nancy of Kennerdell, Grandson Michael Langham and wife Debbra and their daughters Ruby, Evie & Rory. Granddaughter Stephanie Langham and her children Italy, Jordan & Rome, Granddaughter Sara Barr and her daughters Meghan & Charleigh. Grandson Jeremy Moore and his son Carson. A sister Ruth Young and her Husband Louis of New York also survive along with several Nieces and Nephews. And a Lifelong friend Ralph Hartford.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife “Betty” and 5 brothers Eugene, Fred, Irving, Carlton & Ernest and 1 sister Charlotte.

A memorial service will take place at the convenience of the family.
