CLARION, Pa. — Colin Giering, of Clarion, marked the achievement of scouting’s highest rank of Eagle Scout on November 13 at his court of honor ceremony held at First Presbyterian Church.

Colin is the son of Scott and Lynn Giering and the grandson of Layne and Susan Giering, Dave and Pat Steward, and Dwight and Marilyn Underhill.

Colin is a member of Troop 51 of Clarion chartered to Clarion Lodge #277, F & AM Masonic Lodge in Clarion, Pa.

In addition to being an active member in his local troop, Colin was inducted into the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s National Honor Society. He was a member of Langundowi Lodge of French Creek Council where he sought out and participated in several leadership training conferences and served as membership Vice Chief. Colin was awarded the Vigil Honor which recognizes distinguished contributions to scouting and the Order, through exceptional service, personal commitment, and unselfish interest in the welfare of others.

His Indian name given is Sehe Sachgagunummen, interpreted as “Quiet One Who Leads.”

To earn the rank of Eagle, a scout must earn at least 21 merit badges and demonstrate leadership and community service by organizing and implementing an Eagle project.

For his project, Colin designed, constructed, directed others, and participated in installing a North Country Trail Association sign at its Riverhill Trailhead in Clarion. His project can be seen shortly after crossing the State Route 322 bridge, traveling west out of Clarion.
