Merriel Mae Williams

Merriel Mae Williams, 80, of Shippenville, Pa., passed away at UPMC Northwest (Seneca) early Thursday morning. Born in Butler on June 10, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Gladys Hutchison Rihel.

Merriel was a member of the Martinsburg Church of Bruin. She was an avid reader who belonged to several books of the month clubs. She loved birds, horses and liked to collect turtles. She loved her family and enjoyed recording her family’s genealogy. She was very kind and loving and made everyone feel as if they were a part of her own family. She will be deeply missed.

Merriel was married to the late Delbert E. Williams on May 2, 1953 and whom preceded her on April 8, 2007.

She is survived by one daughter: Melissa Ann Kaiser (Joe) of Butler. Four sons: Delbert C. (Darline) Williams of North Washington; Samuel E. (Stacie) Williams of Bruin; Clayton M. (Tammy) Williams of Vermont; Karl E. Williams of Harrisville.

One Brother: Joseph Lee Rihel of Butler. 17 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Dawn Williams. A Granddaughter Santana Riethmiller; Grandson Shaun Williams and Great Granddaughter Maggie Williams.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Merriel’s honor to the charity of your choosing.
