Mabelle PoindexterMaebelle Mott Poindexter, 88, of Franklin, surrounded by her family, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 5th.

Born March 28, 1928, she was the daughter of Garfield and Beatrice Jackson Mott. She was married to Daniel E. Poindexter, who preceded her in death.

Maebelle attended Franklin High School. She was employed at Polk Center and Joy Manufacturing for a short period of time. She was a homemaker and will be remembered as a woman who had an abundant gift of love. Her home was a place where one could find encouragement, counseling, words of wisdom and always a good meal. She will also be known for how she reached out to others, sharing the love of Jesus.

Mrs. Poindexter was formerly a member of Erie St. Church of God where she served in many positions for over thirty years. Among those included; secretary, treasurer, trustee, and an elder.

Mrs. Poindexter, a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin, loved hearing the Word and praising the Lord. She was a “prayer warrior” and a Bible scholar.

Maebelle is survived by her children, Kathi Latimore Nolen of Woodbridge, VA, Sandra Robinson of Jamestown, NY, Stephen Daniels of San Antonio, TX, and Timothy D. Daniels and his wife, Penny, Pam Jones Anderson, Mark Daniels, Melanie Daniels Richburg and her husband, Ron Sr., and Deirde Bouse, all of Franklin.

Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her sisters Daisy Rorie and Joanne Miles, both of Pittsburgh, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

She is additionally survived by her niece, Anetta Scott, who was special and dear to her heart.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Maebelle was preceded in death by her four children, George W. Daniels II, Daphne Jones Northington, Theresa “Tracey” Brewster, and Joshua John Poindexter; her granddaughter, Keanda Daniels; and her great-granddaughter, Reality Nolen. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Garfield Mott II, John D. Mott, Robert Mott, Arthur Mott, Joseph Mott and Lindsey “L.C.” Mott; her sisters, Pearline Stewart, Beatrice Davis, and Edith Scott; her great-aunt, Bennie Lawson; and her great-uncle, Donald Lawson.

Family and friends will be received at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Friday, December 9th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home on Saturday, December 10th with Rev. David Janz, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
