Naomi SummervilleNaomi P. Summerville, 82, of 70 Summer Lane Sligo passed away at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday December 6, 2016 at her home following a period of declining health.

Born February 24, 1934 in Clarion.

She was the daughter of William H. and Catherine Fagley Francisco.

Naomi was married on March 21, 1953 to Wilson E. Summerville and he died April 6, 2016.

After high school Naomi attended Clarion University, and she enjoyed 30 years as a reporter and photographer at the Oil City Derrick.

She was also a freelance writer for the Clarion News, The Leader-Vindicator and The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Naomi served as the Piney Township Assessor and Building Permit Officer for several years and she served three terms as a Clarion County Jury Commissioner.Naomi was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion, Christians Women’s Club, The Women’s Club of Clarion, Clarion Civic Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Naomi enjoyed visiting with all she knew and specially spending time with her family.

She is survived by three daughters; Starr Summerville of Leeper, Donna Summerville of Meadville and Yvonne Summerville of Hermitage, one son; Greg and his wife Kathy Summerville of Grove City, seven granddaughters; Jennifer, Jessica, Tiffany, Cortney, Shana, Brenna, Brooklyn, six great grandchildren and a sister Eileen Oster of Sharon.

In addition to her parents and husband Naomi was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert and Gene Francisco, a sister; Delores Francisco and her son; Bruce S. Summerville who died November 23, 2016.

Naomi’s family will receive friends, along with friends of her son Bruce from 4-8 p.m. Friday December 9, 2016 at the Varner Funeral Home in Sligo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday December 10, 2016 for Naomi Summerville and her son Bruce at Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion, with the Rev. Monty Sayers, Pastor, presiding.

Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Clarion-Forrest VNA Hospice, 271 Perkins Road Clarion 16214.
