High School Boys’ Basketball Roundup: Clarion Flies Past DuBois in Keystone Tip-off

KNOX, Pa. (D9Sports) — Three players reach double digits for Clarion, as the Bobcats toppled DuBois, 67-46, in the opening round of the Keystone Tip-off Tournament.

Reed Anthony led the way for the Bobcats with 15 points, while Ty Burford added 12 tallies and Austin Hummell 10.

Nick LaBrasca paced DuBois with 19 points, including 10 in the first quarter.

Clarion will play St. Marys in the title game, while DuBois will take on Keystone in the consolation contest Saturday.

ST. MARYS 58, KEYSTONE 56

KNOX, Pa. — Jeff Wehler hit the game-winning basket with 2.4 seconds left, as visiting St. Marys overcame a 25-point first-half deficit to stun Keystone, 58-56, in the opening round of the Keystone Tip-off Tournament.

Wehler finished with 16 points for the Dutch, who trailed by 14, 38-24, at halftime. Nathan Schneider led St. Marys, which got the game knotted at 48 at the end of three with 25 points, while Matt Marconi added 14.

Austin Ion led Keystone with 17 points with Tanner Wilson adding 14 and Corey Rapp 12.

St. Marys faces Clarion in the title game Saturday with Keystone playing DuBois in the consolation.

PURCHASE LINE 69, KARNS CITY 65

FOXBURG, Pa. — At the A-C Valley Hoops for Heroes Crossover, Melvin Sanchez scored a game-high 22 points to lead Purchase Line past Karns City, 69-65.

Eric Dodd paced the Gremlins with 19 points, Ian McElroy added 15, Chandler Turner 12 and Noah Pollock 10.

SAEGERTOWN 55, A-C VALLEY 47

FOXBURG, Pa. — Alan McGill filled the nets for a game-high 32 points, as visiting Saegertown topped A-C Valley, 55-47, in the A-C Valley Hoops for Heroes Crossover.

Kody Wolfe led the Falcons with 17 points, five rebounds and five steals. Joe Manculich chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots with freshman Russ Carr contributing nine points.

FOREST AREA 58, TIDIOUTE CHARTER 32

MARIENVILLE, Pa. — Seth Berlin had a monster game with 23 points, 17 rebounds and five assists, as host Forest Area beat Tidioute Charter, 58-32, in the opening round of the Forest Area Tip-off Tournament at East Forest.

Dillion DiCorpo added 11 points, five assists and four steals for the Fires, while Dereck Marshall also distributed five helpers.

Mason Delce led Tidioute with 10 points.

Forest will play Union City in the title game Saturday, while Tidioute face Warren County Christian in the consolation.

MONITEAU 58, REDBANK VALLEY 41

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Lake Pry explored for 35 points and 10 rebounds, as Moniteau beat host Redbank Valley, 58-41, in the opening round of the Redbank Valley Tip-off Tournament.

Pry scored his 35 points without the benefit of a 3-point hitting 14 two’s and going 7 of 11 from the free-throw line. He was the only Warriors player with more than five points.

Riley Campbell and Brock Barrett each scored eight points for Redbank Valley.

Moniteau will play Ridgway in the title game Saturday with Redbank Valley taking on Bradford in the consolation contest.

NORTH CLARION 74, JAMESTOWN 51

SHEFFIELD, Pa. — Behind 24 points and 13 rebounds from Keeven Weaver, North Clarion ran past Jamestown (Pa.), 74-51, in the opening round of the Sheffield Sports Boosters Tip-off Tournament.

Zander Hargenrader added 12 points and Sam Minich 10 for North Clarion, who will face Sheffield in the title game Saturday.

Austin Smith paced Jamestown with 14 points with Jacob Rhoades adding 12. Jamestown faces Port Allegany in the consy game Saturday.
