Police Find Marijuana Plants Growing in Garden Behind Residence; Clarion Man Charged

HIGHLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion man is facing drug and related charges after police find Marijuana plants at his Miola Road residence.

According to court documents, Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 64-year-old Edward T. McClain, of Clarion.

According to a criminal complaint, this incident occurred as the landlord of the Miola Road residence went to the property with a contractor. The tenant was notified of them coming to look at the property to do some repairs.

The landlord observed Marijuana plants growing in the garden behind the residence and notified PSP Clarion, the complaint states.

Around 7:00 p.m. on July 30, police arrived at the Miola property and talked with the tenant — Edward McClain. McClain told police he knew they would be coming and gave them consent to search the property. He told them that he had six plants in the garden and five more in buckets in the basement, according to the complaint.

Eleven marijuana plants were located, as well as a grow light, the complaint continues.

McClain was arraigned at 11:00 a.m. on December 7 in front of Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill on the following charges:

– Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Felony
– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

McClain was released on own recognizance.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. on February 7, 2017, with Judge Schill presiding.
