Brookville Man Killed in I-80 Crash

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) — State Police say a fatal crash occurred Tuesday night on Interstate 80 West, near 88 mile marker, in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

DuBois-based State Police say a two-vehicle accident occurred around 6:58 p.m. as a Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling west on I-80 in the left lane. The driver — a known, 50-year-old Brookville man — lost control of the Chevrolet, causing him to cross into the right lane before striking the northern guide rails.

According to police, the car then re-entered the travel lanes and was struck by a Freightliner — operated by a known Reynoldsville man — causing severe damage to the Chevrolet.

The Brookville man was transported to Penn Highlands DuBois where he succumbed to his injuries, according to police.

Falls Creek Fire Department; DuSan Ambulance; McPherson Towing; Bricen Towing; and PennDOT assisted PSP on the scene.

The names of the drivers were not released.
