VOWINCKEL, Clarion Co. (EYT) — A Vowinckel family is homeless after an early-morning fire destroyed their residence.

The Summers family, who lived at 3578 Jacks Hollow Road in Vowinckel, escaped without injuries from the blaze that happened at about 1:30 a.m. Friday with temperatures hovering around 0 degrees.

There has already been a GoFundMe campaign established to help the family that includes Rory and Eileen Summer and their two children, 9-year-old Aletta and 3-year-old Ryder. The children left the residence in their pajamas and didn’t even time to put on shoes.

People wanting to help the family can donate at https://www.gofundme.com/summers-family-fire.

Devin Callahan of Marienville, the brother of Eileen Summer, helped set up the campaign and is hoping to raise $5,000 to replace some of the family’s belongings and Christmas presents that were lost in the fire.

As of late Friday morning, more than $1,000 had been pledged. Also, the Red Cross has been called in to assist the family.

According to Clarion County 911 Operations Director Ron Wolbert, numerous units responded to the scene, including Marienville Volunteer Fire Department, Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Company, Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department, Sigel Volunteer Fire Department, Clarion Hospital EMS out of Marienville and PennDOT.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
