Florence E. “Flossie” Franklin

Florence-Franklin-1481904030Florence E. “Flossie” Franklin, 90., of 406 Euclid Ave, Oil City, went to be with her Savior at 4:50 pm, Thursday, December 15, 2106, at her home.

Born March 1, 1926 in Pyatte NC, she was a daughter of the late Handy and Jennie Mace Pyatte.

Flossie worked at Thrift Drug, kept the house and farmed. Her greatest joy seemed to come from planting flowers, her vegetables and cooking and baking for anyone who would stop by.

She was a member of Heckathorn United Methodist Church, where she attended church and Sunday school regularly.

On January 9, 1946, she married Gilbert A. Franklin, who preceded her in death on January 8, 2011, one day short of their 65th anniversary.

Flossie is survived by two daughters, Precilla Ferne Campbell and husband Clay of Oil City, and Linda Apel and husband Scott of Knox; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Franklin of Seneca; 8 grandchildren, Rodrick Campbell and wife Susan, Stephen Campbell and wife Michelle, Jennifer Campbell and husband Scott Holder, Benjamin Franklin, Carol Franklin, Christopher Apel and wife Deborah, Joshua Apel and wife Angela, and Charity Hansford and husband Jason; and 17 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Ruth Buchanan, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip Franklin and William Franklin, nine brothers and 2 sisters.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm and at Heckathorn United Methodist Church on Monday from 10 to 11 am.

Funeral services will be held in Heckathorn United Methodist Church at 11 am Monday with the Rev. Rob Kifer, officiating.

Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Heckathorn United Methodist Church.
