CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Spencer Forsythe, the new owner of the Fox’s Pizza Den franchise at 511 Main Street in Clarion, said Tuesday that the store is opening soon, but doesn’t have an exact date.

Crews are busy with an extensive remodeling of the store, and Forsythe says training for employees starts next week. Once it is up and running, there will be approximately 20 employees.  The building earlier served as the Orpheum movie theater, Sparky Pizza, Scrap Happy, and Ecoasis.

“We’re going to have wedgies, hoagies, pizza, stromboli, salads, and all sorts of stuff like that,” said Forsythe. “Corporate sends out the menu either once or twice a month.   People can eat in and there will be seating and delivery.”

UnknownThe Clarion store is Forsythe’s first Fox Pizza Den franchise, and he welcomes the opportunity. A 2013 graduate of Brookville High School, Forsythe also attended Butler County Community College in Brockway and Thiel College majoring in business management.

‘I just always wanted to own a pizza shop and ultimately my own business,” said Forsythe. “This seemed to be the best opportunity. Fox’s are remodeling all of their stores, and some of them are getting bought back.  The opportunity came before the other one on Greenville Pike closed because they didn’t want to do the remodeling.”

Forsythe didn’t work at any other pizza shops before this, but he has been in training at other Fox stores since he became a franchise owner in 2016.  Along with the training and getting ready to open his own store, he has had a real learning experience.

He knows he is young to have a franchise but welcomes the opportunity.  As far as questions about pizza competition in the Clarion area he has an answer.  “I know there are other places that sell pizza, but we make good food, and it will be cheaper.”

“We are going through a refit phase with the company overall,” said Jim Fox Jr. of Fox’s Pizza Corporate office in Murrysville. “Because of government guidelines, all of the products have to be made the same way .”

Fox Jr. said renovations are happening throughout the company.

Fox Jr. said keeping a location in Clarion is important to the company.

“We have had a store in town forever,” Fox Jr. said. “Probably one of our first 20 stores was in Clarion.”
