New Bethlehem Man Accused of Raping 3-Year-Old Girl

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EYT) — A New Bethlehem man is facing several felony charges in connection with the alleged rape of a child after an investigation by New Bethlehem Borough Police.

According to online court documents John R. Goodman, Jr., 36, of New Bethlehem, was arraigned in front of District Judge Jeffrey Miller at 10:00 a.m. on January 6 on the following charges:

– Rape of Child, Felony 1

– Statutory Sexual Assault: 11 Years and Older,  Felony 1

– Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse With a Child,  Felony 1

– Aggravated Indecent Assault of Child,  Felony 1

– Sexual Assault, Felony 2

– Corruption Of Minors — Defendant Age 18 or Above, Felony 3

– Indecent Assault Person Less than 13 Years of Age, Misdemeanor 1

According to a criminal complaint, New Bethlehem Police Sgt. Nicole Peck received a report of suspected child abuse from Clarion County Children and Youth Services. The report listed the victim as a known, 3-year-old girl.

The complaint states that Sgt. Peck spoke with (a known person) who stated that the mother of the three-year-old girl told (the known person) that Goodman had allegedly made the victim perform oral sex on him.

On December 14, 2016, Sgt. Peck interviewed Goodman, and he denied any allegations of wrong doing, according to the complaint.

On January 6, 2017, Goodman was interviewed by State Police Tpr. Ronan, of the Clarion-based State Police. “Goodman did confess that he was sitting on a chair in his living room in his boxer’s with the victim on his lap. He then made her perform oral sex on him,” the complaint indicates.

The criminal complaint states that the victim then bit Goodman’s member, causing bruising.

Goodman remains in the Clarion County Jail after failing to post $100,000.00 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 17 at 1:45 p.m. with Judge Miller presiding.

Goodman, a registered sex offender in Pennsylvania, was convicted in 2008 for unlawful contact with a minor.
