Tuesday’s High School Basketball Roundup: Bowser Lifts Union Boys Over Venango Catholic

RIMERSBURG, Pa. (D9Sports) — Thanks to a 19-3 third-quarter edge, Union opened up a 24-point lead after three quarters on its way to a 62-51 win over visiting Venango Catholic.

Lucas Bowser broke out of a five-game mini-slump for a game-high 26 points for Union, which led 55-31 going to the fourth quarter. Bowser, who had scored just 53 points over his last five games, also had eight rebounds, two steals and two assists.

Gavin Hawk added 15 points for Union with Dana Logue chipping in six points, five steals and five rebounds and Hunter Johnston dishing out six assists to go with four points.

Tim Wagner scored 22 points to pace Venango Catholic with Hunter Lancaster chipping in 11.

A-C VALLEY 47, CRANBERRY 44

FOXBURG, Pa. — Kody Wolfe scored 12 of his team-high 16 points in the third quarter helping A-C Valley outscore visiting Cranberry by 12 points in the quarter on its way to a 47-44 victory.

The Falcons trailed 25-18 at halftime but behind Wolfe, who also had five steals, outscored Cranberry 21-9 in the third quarter to take a 39-34 lead.

Russ Carr chipped in nine points, six rebounds and five steals for A-C Valley with Joe Manculich adding seven points and 11 rebounds.

Dan McQuaide led all scorers with 19 points for Cranberry with Cameron Daugherty chipping in 10 tallies.

MONITEAU 58, NORTH CLARION 47

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. — With 24 points and seven rebounds, Lake Pry netted his eighth 20-point game of the season including his sixth in the past seven games to lead Moniteau to a 58-47 win over visiting North Clarion.

Jake Jewart added 10 points and six assists with Jared Lominski chipping in 10 points and five rebounds and Josh Adamson four points, four assists and four steals for the Warriors.

Nathan Banner led North Clarion with 14 points with Chase Schmader adding 12.

KARNS CITY 64, FOREST AREA 24

KARNS CITY, Pa. — Thanks in part to 17 points and 10 rebounds from Chandler Turner, Karns City rolled past visiting Forest Area, 64-24.

Noah Pollock added 12 points and 10 assists for the Gremlins, who also got 11 points from Eric Dodd and 10 from Jacob Friel.

Seth Berlin paced Forest Area with 13 points and nine rebounds.

GIRLS’ RECAPS

UNION 70, CLARION-LIMESTONE 34

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. — Behind 25 points, 12 rebounds and six steals from Frankee Remmick visiting Union rolled to a 70-34 victory over Clarion-Limestone.

Lexey Shick added 19 points, seven steals, three assists and three rebounds for the Golden Damsels, who also got 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals from Hannah Atzeni.

Morgan Clarke led C-L with 12 points, her second straight game in double digits. Maddy Craig added nine points for the Lady Lions.
