Early Planning for Annual Events Underway in New Bethlehem

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EYT) — Early planning for this years events and a presentation by Trinity Solutions dominated the February meeting of the Redbank Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors meeting at the Redbank Valley Library on Thursday, February 9. Vice President Gordon Barrows chaired the short meeting.

There are no new events being planned for the year, but committee members are beginning to organize the usual Chamber events. This year’s events will kick off with the annual Earth Day Cleanup Day coming on April 22 this year. The Farmer’s Market and the Golf Outing will be among the next of the year’s events. The Farmer’s Market should begin sometime in May and run through the growing season. The Golf Outing is tentatively planned for May.

Summer in New Bethlehem will bring the community yard sales and Customer Appreciation Day during June. Fireworks will light up the sky above Redbank Creek over the July 4th holiday. The Peanut Butter Festival, Fall Window Decorating, and the Halloween Parade will celebrate autumn and the Christmas Parade will wind up the year’s events.

With the recent resignations of the long-serving Peanut Butter Festival chairs, the Chamber Board is planning on holding a community meeting shortly to seek input for the future of the festival. The meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, February 15, at Joe’s Restaurant at 5:30 PM. The scope and scale of future Peanut Butter festivals will depend on how much the community steps up at this point to make that future happen. The Board voted to accept the membership application of Passages, Inc. of Clarion. Passages becomes the newest member of the Redbank Valley Chamber.

Trinity Solutions of Hermitage, PA gave a presentation to the Board Identity Theft and Prepaid Legal Services. This “Affinity Program” would allow the Redbank Valley Chamber to offer Identify Theft and Prepaid Legal services to members and their employees at group (discounted) rates. The program not only offers discounted protective services to members of the organization, but it generates non-dues revenue for the offering organization. This becomes a “win – win” for organizations and members as these protective services are available at group rate only through membership. Such programs make memberships in organizations more valuable.
