Karns City Man Accused of Impersonating State Trooper

RIMERSBURG, Pa. (EYT) — A Karns City man is accused of impersonating a Pa. State Police Trooper after an incident in September 2016 in Rimersburg.

According to online court documents, Russell S. Miller, 51, was charged with one second-degree misdemeanor count of impersonating a public servant by New Bethlehem Police Department Sgt. Nicole Peck.

According to a criminal complaint, Sgt. Peck received a call from the manager of a Sunoco gas station in Rimersburg on September 12.

The caller stated that Miller came into the store at 12:30 a.m. and said he was Sgt. Frank Smith of the PSP.

The complaint states that Miller allegedly said that his wife was in the store the prior weekend and bought a sweet tea and a pack of cigarettes, but she forgot to take the cigarettes with her.

Miller then gave the manager a phone number and said she could reach him at the barracks, adding for her to request Car 5, the one he would be in, the complaint continues.

Miller’s preliminary arraignment is scheduled for March 1 at 11:00 a.m. in front of District Magistrate Jeffrey Miller.
