John E. Murphy, 88 , formerly of Oil City, PA. died at 5:15 A.M. Wednesday Feb. 15, 2017 at the VNA.

Hospice Inpatient House in Butler after an extended illness.

Born Sept. 18, 1928 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late John E. Murphy & Anna Hutchison Murphy.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce & Carl Sargent of Oil City; a sister-in-law, Jean Murphy of Oil City; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a four brothers, William Murphy, Don Murphy, James Murphy and Rich Murphy; and a sister, Catherine Murphy.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
