HARMONY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Marienville-based State Police say an incident of theft by deception occurred on Hilltop Road, in West Hickory, Harmony Township, Forest County.

State Police were contacted on February 16 regarding a theft that occurred depriving the victim of $2,626.90.

The theft occurred after the 21-year-old West Hickory woman communicated with an individual on a social media website.

The incident occurred around 12:00 p.m. on January 22.

State Police reminds citizens to be aware of potential dangers associated with social media.
