HUGHESVILLE, Md. (EYT) — Authorities have identified a former West Sunbury man as the victim in a fatal February 19 motorcycle crash in Hughesville, Maryland.

Nathan William Guterry, 25, of Lexington Park, Md., was traveling south on Leonardtown Road around 7:20 p.m. when he lost control of his 2009 Kawasaki EX500 motorcycle and struck a guide rail. The force of the impact caused Guterry to be ejected from the bike, according to Maryland State Police.

Guterry was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed and driver error to be the cause of the accident. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Guterry was a 2010 Moniteau graduate.

He worked for the U.S. Navy Naval Air Systems Command at the Patuxent River Airbase in Maryland. He was also a member of the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department.
