KANE, Pa. (D9Sports) — Tori Obenrader scored 31 points, including 23 in the first half, grabbed 11 rebounds and had five steals and four assists to lead top-seeded North Clarion to a 48-32 win over eighth-seeded Smethport in the District 9 Class 1A quarterfinals at Kane High School.

“I have to have all my teammates to do that,” Obenrader, who was named the Hager Paving Player of the Game, said. “They helped me get open. They got in the lane and set screens for me. It really helped.”
Behind Obenrader, North Clarion jumped out to a 30-17 halftime lead that was expanded to 17, 42-25, by the end of the third quarter.
“I think we got use to how they were playing and their style of play,” Obenrader said. “We had to go back to ours and not let them play their game.”
Michaela Higgins added seven points for North Clarion (21-2) with Wagner adding six tallies.
“Overall, our girls played real hard,” North Clarion head coach Terry Dreihaup said. “We were prepared and played really well against Abbey (Woodard). I though they did a real good job defensively.”
Abbey Woodard paced Smethport (11-13) with 13 points well below her season average of 21. Emily Treat added nine and Katie Treat eight for the Lady Hubbers.
“Our press was key,” Dreihaup said. “We made some key steals and key takeaways and we came down and scored.”
North Clarion, which qualifies for the PIAA playoffs for the second straight year, will take on A-C Valley in the semifinals at a site, time and date to be determined.
