Margaret S. (Peg) Bauer

Margaret BauerMargaret S. (Peg) Bauer, 81, formerly of Crown, PA, passed away peacefully at Snyder Memorial Health Care Center in Marienville, surrounded by family, on Monday February 27, 2017.

Born September 7, 1935, in Snydersburg, Peg was the daughter of the late Francis C. and Elva M. (Schmader) Snyder and was one of 13 children.

Peg spent 33 happy years with her much loved companion, George Steele, who preceded her in death on November 26, 2006.

Peg was a 1954 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Lucinda. She was employed for 44 years at Owens Illinois Glass Plant, from where she retired.

In addition to spending time with her children, grandchildren, and George, Peg also loved playing bingo, crafting, gambling trips and especially playing cards with her Wednesday Card Club.

Peg is survived by her three daughters and their spouses: Brenda J. Hilliard and her husband, Kenneth of Mayport; Janice M. Weaver and her husband, Charles of Marble; and Judy A. Bauer of Tylersburg.

She is also survived by six grandchildren: Hannah M. Allison and her husband, Brendan of Limestone, Alisha M. Weaver of Marble, Sarah C. Smith and her husband, Travis of Clarion, Isabelle L. Weaver of Marble, Daniel J. Ochs and his wife, Misty of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Anthony M. Ochs of Lucinda, and eight great-grandchildren: Schuyler and Julian Allison of Limestone, Caden, Giselle and Gabrielle Kron of New Bethlehem, Ian and Zoe Ochs of Lucinda, and Joslynn Ochs of Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Of Peg’s five sisters, one survives, Lois E. Scott of Marienville.

Surviving sisters-in-law include Willivine (Whoopie) Snyder of Snydersburg and Ruth Snyder of Lucinda, and many nieces and nephews.

Peg was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica L. Kron, four sisters and seven brothers: Imelda M. “Med” Griebel, Phyllis B. Bowen, Anastasia C. “Ann” Osterried, Norma Jean “Jean” Heinrich, Gerald F. “Pete” Snyder, Eugene J. “Huey” Snyder, William H. Snyder, Leon W. “Ene” Snyder, John E. “Jack” Snyder, Kenneth S. “Nugget” Snyder, and Francis C. Snyder, Jr. (infant).

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday March 2nd at St. Joseph Church in Lucinda, with Rev. Joseph Czarkowski, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will take place at a later date in the church cemetery.

Memorials or donations may be made in Peg’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Joseph Church in Lucinda, or St. Mary’s Church, in Crown.
