CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A Knox woman is facing charges after allegedly impersonating a Clarion County law enforcement officer.
According to a criminal complaint, around 4:15 p.m. on March 1, Clarion Borough Police responded to the Recovery Center of Clarion at 1009 East Main Street for a report of a woman stating that she works for the Clarion County Detective Department.
During the investigation, it was learned that the manager of the center who answered the phone knew the voice was that of 39-year-old Rachel Lorraine Blount, of Knox, the complaint states.
According to the complaint, the manager stated that Blount told her that she works with Officer William Peck and that she wanted information on (a known woman) because she had information that (the known woman) was bringing drugs into the recovery center. Blount also told the manager that “her men need help in locating (the known woman) while she has drugs on her.” The manager stated that Blount said that “her men had tried several times to locate (the known woman) but were unable to find her.”
The manager told Blount that “she would need to verify that she works for the Clarion County Detective Department and to give her a phone number in which she could call back to verify. Blount gave her a phone number of PSP Clarion,” the complaint indicates.
The manager stated that “she knew it was Blount who called, as she has been in her recovery program, and she has spoken with her in the past, and she knows her voice,” the complaint continues.
The manager also indicated that “(the known woman) and Blount have been dating but broke up, and (the known woman) stated that since the break up, she has been having problems with Blount, as she has been attempting to get her in trouble,” the complaint states.
Around 2:35 p.m. on March 2, a bench warrant was served on Blount on an unrelated case. Blount was placed under arrest and taken to Clarion Borough Police Department. When asked about the calls to the recovery center, Blount advised that she did not want to speak to police and that she wanted an attorney, according to the complaint.
Blount was arraigned at 4:02 p.m. on March 2 in Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quinn’s office on a second-degree misdemeanor charge of Impersonating A Public Servant.
Unable to post $20,000.00 monetary bail, Blount was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. on March 7 in front of Judge Quinn.
