LICKING TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Two area residents are facing charges after they allegedly lied to a state police trooper following a DUI crash in Licking Township, Clarion County.

Shawn Matthew Myers Sr., 41, of Bruin, faces the following charges:

  • False Report — Falsely Incriminate Another, Misdemeanor 2
  • Hinder Apprehension/Prosecution-Conceal/Destroy Evidence, Misdemeanor 2
  • Driving License Suspended/Revoked Pursuant to Section 3802/1547B1, Summary

Gidget Lee Larkin, 46, of Emlenton, faces the following charges:

  • Hinder Apprehension/Prosecution- False Info to LEO, Misdemeanor 2
  • False Reports — Reported Offense Did Not Occur, Misdemeanor 3

According to a criminal complaint filed at Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller’s office, Clarion-based State Police Trooper Knight was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on February 4 around 11:18 p.m.

The crash occurred on Callensburg Road, approximately 1/2 mile south of Shirey Road.

The criminal complaint states that Larkin told police she was driving at the time of the accident.

Larkin was placed under arrest for DUI after she allegedly showed signs of impairment during a standard field sobriety test. She was then transported to the Clarion Hospital for blood tests, according to the criminal complaint.

Larkin later stated that she was not driving at the time of the crash and indicated that Myers was the operator of the vehicle.

Following the accident, Myers allegedly told Larkin that “she had to tell the police that she was the one driving so he would not go to jail due to having a suspended license.”

On February 13, 2017, Myers was interviewed at the Clarion-based State Police barracks.

During the interview, Myers admitted that he was the driver of the vehicle.

Myers and Larkin are scheduled to be arraigned before Judge Miller March 23 at 10:00 a.m.
