Norman F. Fassler

Norman F. Fassler, 87, a resident of 310 16th Street, Franklin died peacefully at 1:08 PM Sunday, March 12, 2017, with his wife by his side, in The Caring Place of Franklin; following a period of declining health.

He was born February 17, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, a beloved son of the late: Frank and Ruth Ahrens Fassler.

Norman graduated in 1949 from Oil City High School, where he was a member of The National Honor Society.

He had worked as a Senior Draftsman in the engineering department of Joy Manufacturing Company of Franklin, where he retired following more than 37 years of service.

Norman loved everything which dealt with aviation and aeronautics, as well as flying airplanes.

He was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church in Oil City.

He was married April 11, 1959 in Grace Lutheran Church in Franklin to the former Ruth Higgins Duncombe, who survives.

In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, he is survived by two step-sons: Michael C. Duncombe and David A. Duncombe, by his niece, Shirley A. Scott and was a “special grandfather” to: Missy, Jamie and Kelsey; in addition to many loving extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold M. Fassler on August 20, 1979.

In accordance of his wishes, there will be no public visitation.

Graveside services shall be private.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be directed in his name to AseraCare Hospice, 1600 Peninsula Drive, Suite 14, Erie, PA 16505.

Mr. Fassler’s family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of The Caring Place in Franklin for the loving care he received while a resident there.
