Four D9 Football Players, Including Burford, Honored as Scholar-Athletes by NFF Central PA Chapter

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Four District 9 athletes including Clarion’s Ty Burford were honored as Scholar-Athletes March 12 at the National Football Foundation, Central Pennsylvania Chapter’s 20th annual banquet in State College.

Joining Burford in being honored were Clearfield’s Mason Royer, Curwensville’s Kevin Shaffer and DuBois’ Ryan Pasternak.

Brandon Noble, former Penn State and Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle, was the featured speaker, and the ceremony included an appearance from Penn State football coach James Franklin.

In addition to the Scholar-Athlete award, the Foundation also presented Clarion University head athletic trainer Jim Thornton with the Lifetime Contribution to Football Award in Athletic Training and presented lifetime achievement award to George Curry, Dave Baker, Don Bailey and Gary Klingensmith.
