Chimney Fire in Richland Township Contained by Fire Companies

RICHLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Fire companies contained a chimney fire in Richland Township Sunday night, preventing damage to a residence located off Route 58.

St. Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department Chief Dennis Sheakley said the fire was contained to the chimney.

“There was no damage to the residence. We just used a fire extinguisher to put it out,” Sheakley said. “They were lucky. There’s always the potential for much worse, but fortunately that was not the case this time.”

The residence was located on a long lane off Route 58 a few miles from A-C Valley High School.

Clarion County 911 Director Ron Wolbert said that in addition to St. Petersburg Fire Department, fire companies were dispatched from Emlenton, Parker, and Knox, as well as Emlenton EMS.

Knox was cancelled at 9:09 p.m., 19 minutes after the call came in.

The scene was cleared at 9:38 p.m.
