Two Local Men Escape Injury in U.S. 322 Crash

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Two area men escaped injury in a two-vehicle accident Monday in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Franklin-based State Police say the accident happened around 4:42 p.m. on U.S. Route 322 near its intersection with Maple Shade Road.

A 2015 Chevrolet Sonic operated by Derek R. Nichols, 24, of Knox, slowed down as it approached the intersection due to a vehicle turning left onto Maple Shade Road.

State police say the rear of Nichols’ vehicle was subsequently struck by a 2001 Chrysler Sebring operated by Charles E. Kitchen, 32, of Parker.

Kitchen’s vehicle then traveled off the roadway and overturned onto its roof.

Both drivers were using seat belts and escaped injury.

Kitchen was ticketed for a lane violation.

Seneca Volunteer Fire Department, Community Ambulance, and Venango Towing assisted at the scene.
