John “Bunk” Moore

John “Bunk” Moore, 82, of Franklin, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 23rd at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born June 18, 1934 in Franklin, Bunk was the son of the late John Edward and Ocie L. Fratcher Moore. He married Shirley Reitz on May 26, 1956, and she survives.

Bunk worked at Franklin Steel for more than 43 years before retiring. While at Franklin Steel, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for 14 years and also as a foundry worker. He was a member of the Nicklin United Methodist Church, and enjoyed riding horses, and hunting elk and deer out west with his friends. Bunk also was an avid Steelers fan. He cherished his family and his friends and the times he spent with them.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, Bunk is survived by his two daughters, Jackie A. Egger and her husband, James, of Franklin; and Jennifer Paris and her husband, Robert, of Plainfield, Indiana.

He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Christopher Moore of Franklin; Nicole Mays of Mars, PA; James Egger and his wife, Courtney, of Anchorage, Alaska; Jessica Ferringer and her husband, Brandon, of Butler; and Jake Paris of Georgia; his great-grandchildren, Dalton Moon and Cole Moore; and his numerous “grandpuppies”.

In addition to his parents, Bunk was preceded in death by his son, John Moore, Jr.

Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Monday, March 27th from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services for Bunk will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 28th at 10 a.m. with Dennis Johns, retired Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Interment will be in Lupher Chapel Cemetery.
