Morris Associates Buys Clarion BI-LO for $880,000; No Plans Set

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — Morris Associates recently paid $880,000.00 for the long vacant BI-LO building in Clarion, but there are no plans set for the future use of the property.

The transfer of the property and deed was filed in the Clarion County Office of Register and Recorder.  Penn Air Aviation owned by Bruce Taylor of Franklin purchased the building and site in 2016.

BI-LO was not purchased by Clarion Ford, as reported in print on Tuesday, according to General Sales Manager Dave Eggleton of Clarion Ford.

“It was bought by Morris Associates and not by Clarion Ford,” said Eggleton. “Morris Associates does not own Clarion Ford and Clarion Chrysler Dodge Jeep.”

Eggleton declined to say what other properties are owned by Morris Associates.

“I’d rather not say what other properties are owned at this time,” continued Eggleton. “Everything is still a work in progress. There are still a lot of options we’re exploring yet. When there’s something to report, we’ll let you know. The best thing to do is say nothing until you have accomplished something.”

The BI-LO site sat empty for many years after it closed in 2010 for reasons relating to the bankruptcy of Penn-Traffic before Taylor purchased it. The large empty parcel also collected rumors of projects over the years.

Taylor announced many possible uses over the years to exploreClarion.com, including office space for Clarion County, possible retail development, vocational training facilities, and even a car lot.

The lot is located mainly in Clarion Township, but a small section is in Clarion Borough. BI-LO’s predecessor, Riverside, was located on the opposite edge of the lot, with it’s office in Clarion Borough.
