Marjorie Blanche (Harris) Goetz

Marjorie Blanche (Harris) Goetz

Margorie BlancheMarjorie Blanche (Harris) Goetz, age 92, of Brookville, PA, passed away in the late evening hours of Monday, March 27, 2017, at the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital.

Marjorie was born on May 3, 1924, to the late Charles O. and Margaret Belle (Cox) Harris, in McKeesport, PA.

She graduated from the McKeesport High School with the class of 1942.

On July 17, 1948, she married Raymond H. Goetz at the Atlantic Ave., United Presbyterian Church in McKeesport, PA; after 48 years of marriage, Ray preceded her in passing on April 28, 1996. In the first part of their marriage they made their home in Dravosburg, PA, then to Cleveland, OH, and in 1961 they moved to Brookville, PA, where they have since resided.

Marjorie held a few jobs in Brookville which included working for Agway Petroleum, and then she worked for Magistrate George Miller until she retired.

Marjorie loved working in her basement, creating crafts that she would give to her family and friends.

She enjoyed taking bus trips, camping, and traveling. After Ray’s passing, she resided with her daughter on Western Ave., in Brookville, PA, and on numerous occasions since, she and her son have vacationed together.

She didn’t need the extravagant life style either; some of her favorite pass times were taking rides on and picnicking along the Clarion River through Cook Forest.

In 2013, Marjorie moved to Laurelbrooke in Brookville, PA. She quickly became a fixture of the home, known for always smiling and her warm face.

She interacted with the other residents in many capacities including volunteering with Hospice, playing Bingo and Farkle, painting and ceramics activities, and attending the church services. Marjorie had a very strong faith, and she was dedicated to being active in her church.

For years she attended the Brookville Presbyterian Church and she held positions as Elder, Deacon, and she was also a member of the choir. As mobility became more difficult, her faith still grew. It was hard for her to maneuver in and out of the Presbyterian Church but she found another equally loving congregation and church family with the Brookville Church of God; she has most recently been attending there.

She will truly be missed by all those who were blessed to know her.

Marjorie is survived by 1 son; Herbert R. (Linda) Goetz of N. Benton, OH; 1 daughter; Judith Keihl of Brookville, PA; 2 nieces; Darlene (Greg) Quallich of Irwin, PA; Caryl (Chuck) Osborn, of Traverse City, MI; 3 grandsons; Jeremy (Kristal) Goetz of Geneva, OH; Charlie (Amber) Goetz of Simpsonville, SC; and Joshua (Jessica) Keihl of Brookville, PA; 2 granddaughters; Jenny (Joe) Curry of Sigel, PA; Christine Fielder of Waverly, OH; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Marjorie is preceded in death by her sister Shirlee Wiseman, formerly of Sun City Center, FL.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 30, 2017, from 4 — 8pm, at the McKinney — d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A second day of viewing will take place on Friday, March 31, 2017, from 10 — 10:50am, at the Brookville Church of God, 201 Freedom Lane, Brookville, PA, 15825.
