Wednesday’s HS Softball Roundup: Redbank Valley Tops Keystone

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (D9Sports) — Posting big numbers at the plate, Redbank Valley needed four innings to notch a 17-2 15-Run Rule win over visiting Keystone.

Five Lady Bulldogs had multi-hit games, led by Lexi Holt’s 4-for-4 effort. She doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored twice. Kara Hicks was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs. Kaia Rearick, Lauren Rearick and Becca Kunselman each had two hits with Lauren Rearick ripping a two-run homer.

Lady Bulldogs pitcher Alyssa Burkett struck out six and allowed three hits with no walks. One of the hits she surrendered was a two-run homer to Keystone’s Dani Larrow.

CRANBERRY 16, FOREST AREA 0

TIONESTA, Pa. — A 10-run seventh inning helped visiting Cranberry break open a fairly close game on its way to a 16-0 win over Forest Area at West Forest.

Bree Swartzfager was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and four runs scored to help first-year Cranberry head coach Glenn Barcinas get his first win.

Hannah Duncan added a 2-for-4 performance for the Berries with three RBIs, while Jenna Heugel was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs. Libby Kiefer, Kaylee Weaver and Rachel McCauley each added triples for Cranberry with McCauley driving home two and Weaver one while also scoring twice.

Tamara Flinspach went the distance getting the shutout. She struck out 12.

MONITEAU 12, LAWRENCE (Ky.) 0, 5 INNINGS

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Cortney Claypoole went 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBIs and two runs scored to pace a 12-0, five-inning win for Moniteau over Lawrence County (Ky.) in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Kristinia DeMatteis also hit a home run and a double for the Lady Warriors and was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Sara Hull was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Megan Hepler 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Gabby Stewart chipped in a 3-for-4 day with three runs scored.

Kennedy DeMatteis got the win allowing two hits and two walks in five innings of work. She struck out nine.
