Woman Falls Asleep at Wheel, Crashes into Tree Off Route 66

JENKS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — According to Marienville-based State Police, a one-car accident occurred early Friday morning on State Route 66, in Jenks Township, Forest County.

Police say around 5:50 a.m., 20-year-old Emily M. Silvis, of James City, was traveling north on Route 66 in a 2008 Pontiac G6.

According to police, Silvis related that she fell asleep at the wheel, and her car traveled off the eastbound side of the roadway. It traveled down a slight embankment, struck a large deadfall tree, and then rotated clockwise approximately 180 degrees. It came to a final rest approximately eight feet off the roadway.

Silvis was transported to a nearby for suspected minor injuries.

She was not using a seat belt.

She was charged with a traffic violation.

Clarion County EMS and Marienville Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The car was towed from the scene by Snyder’s Auto Body.
