Richard J. (Red) Williams

Richard J. (Red) Williams, 85 of Cochranton passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Meadville Medical Center following a short illness.

Born on May 30, 1931 he was the son of Tim and Frances Voorhies Williams.

Red attended East Fallowfield School and was a former constable in Hartstown.

He worked for 31 years at Chicago Bridge and Iron in Greenville and retired in 1982.

He also worked at Drafto Inc. in Cochranton and bartended for several bars and clubs in the area.

Most recently he drove school vans for Girardat Transportation.

He was a member of Hartstown Fire Hall, Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department Station #4 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Linesville.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his 4 wheeler and will be remembered for his storytelling, joking around and his sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife Sandra Bossard Williams of Cochranton, 2 sons, Butch Williams and his wife Shannon of Florida and Larry Williams and his wife Tracy of Florida.

A stepdaughter, Cheryl Johnston Copeland and her husband Ralph of Saegertown, and two stepsons, Mark Johnston and his wife Michelle of Ormond Beach, Florida and Craig Johnston and his wife Donna of Cochranton. Grandchildren, Duane Williams and his wife Shannon of Cochranton, Brian Williams of Florida, Wendy Williams of Florida, Jennifer Copeland Thomas of Cameron, North Carolina, Anthony, Hollie, Dominic, and Gabrielle Johnston of Ormond Beach, FL, Alex and Erin Johnston of Cochranton. Two great grandchildren, Brooke Copeland Hoey and her husband Chad of Washington and Gabrielle Johnston of Ormond Beach, FL, a sister Doris Thurber of Hartstown and his former wife, Jane Pfaff of Atlantic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Joyce and Dottie Williams, Deloris Barr and Donna Bossard, a brother Michael Williams, and a grandson, Bradley Copeland.

Friends and family will be received at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton on Friday, April 14, from 7-9 and also on Saturday from noon until the funeral service at 2:00pm.

The Rev. Joy Mumford and Rev. Larry Miller of the Mumford Chapel Church will officiate.
