Thursday’s HS Softball Roundup: Redbank Valley Gets Victory; Forest Wins Again

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (D9Sports) — Lexi Holt had four hit, an RBI and a run scored to help Redbank Valley to a 14-4, five-inning win over visiting Johnsonburg.

Kara Hicks blasted a three-run home run for the Lady Bulldogs, while Kristine Shaffer had four hits, including a double, and two RBIs.

Lindsey Kocjancic had a home run and a triple and drove in three to lead Johnsonburg. Nicole Myers was also 3-for-3.

Alyssa Burkett got the win going five innings and allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits and a walk while striking out three.

Hannah Park suffered the loss giving up 11 runs, nine earned, on 10 hits and six walks in 4 ⅓ innings.

FOREST AREA 11, SHEFFIELD 2

MARIENVILLE, Pa. — Cassie Cochran was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead Forest Area to its third straight win, 11-2, over visiting Sheffield.

Allison Lencer added two hits, including a triple, three runs scored and an RBI for the Fires, while Makiya Bellotti was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Destiny Ginnery chipped in with a double.

Jasmine Ginnery got the win going seven innings allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out seven.

Ashley Frederick was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for Sheffield. Mya Grubbs added a double.

BROOKVILLE 9, KEYSTONE 4

KNOX, Pa. — Hannah Kirkwood went 4-for-4 with a triple and four runs scored to lead Brookville to a 9-4 win at Keystone.

It was the Lady Raiders fourth straight win, something that hasn’t happened in a decade.

Maggie Miller also went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored for Brookville with Carlie McManigle driving in four runs and Jordan MacWilliams adding a double.

McManigle allowed two runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out two.

Dani Larrow paced Keystone going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Corra Black 2-for-4 with a run scored.

MONITEAU 15, KARNS CITY 0

CHICORA, Pa. — Kennedy DeMatteis threw a one-hit shutout, as Moniteau rolled to a 15-0 win at Karns City.

Kennedy DeMatteis walked four and struck out 10 in seven innings of work, as the Lady Warriors blew the game open with a seven-run seventh. She also helped her own cause on offense going 1-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI.

Gabby Stewart cranked a home run and was 3-for-5 with five RBIs and three runs scored, while Cortney Claypoole was 5-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Bailey Hoffman chipped in two hits and three runs scored.

Emily Huff had the hit for Karns City.

Makenzie Shay took the loss going four innings and allowing eight runs, four earned, on seven hits and three walks while striking out one.
