Flat Stanley Returns to West Forest School

The second graders at West Forest (pictured above) are welcoming Flat Stanley back from his many adventures. So far, Stanley has visited Arizona, Kansas, Alaska, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.

Stanley is mailed to family and friends for a visit. While on a visit, his host family writes about his visit and the area he is visiting. He also returns with pictures of his trip.

The children are learning so much about the United States through Stanley’s adventures.

The Industrial Arts department at Forest Area recently received a donation from Woodcraft of Pittsburgh, a woodworking store located in Canonsburg. Mr. Dan Habjanetz, who manages the store, donated over $800.00 worth of items, including two drills, a Dremel rotary tool, an oscillating multi-tool, a variety of hand saws, some polyurethane, drawer pulls and a wood burning kit.

This very generous gift will help students continue and complete their woodworking projects this year and for years to come.

I have worked in the early childhood education field for the past 13 years teaching preschool at Creative Kids Learning Center and mentor block students from Clarion University. I am a mother of two wonderful daughters. My journey through the field of education started over 13 years ago when I obtained my Bachelors of Science and Education Degree from Clarion University, and a few years after graduation, I went back to school and obtained an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Clarion University.

After having my second child, I went back to school once again to obtain my Masters in Education Degree with a concentration in Early Childhood Education of which I am currently finishing up in Mrs. Brannon’s class at West Forest Elementary located in Tionesta, Pennsylvania.

Perhaps someday I will find the energy to obtain my Doctorate of Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education.
