Sligo Woman Accused of Assaulting Man, Resisting Arrest

SLIGO, Pa. (EYT) — A 27-year-old woman remains behind bars on charges related to an April 13 assault in Sligo Borough, Clarion County.

Terra Lynae Barnacastle was arraigned on April 13 at Magisterial District Judge Amy Long Turk’s office on the following charges:

  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 1
  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforce, Unknown
  • Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

According to a criminal complaint filed by New Bethlehem Borough Police Officer Volker, the incident happened when Barnacastle allegedly assaulted a known male at a Bald Eagle Street residence.

The criminal complaint states that Barnacastle bit the victim on the chest, scratched his back, and then punched him in the face.

Upon arrival at the scene, the victim remained outside and Officer Volker went upstairs to interview Barnacastle.

According to the criminal complaint, Barnacastle was visibly intoxicated and admitted to drinking alcohol.

At one point, Barnacastle allegedly became very agitated and refused to comply with police. Barnacastle allegedly pulled away from Officer Volker and struck him in the chest with her hand as he attempted to handcuff her.

It was also confirmed that the victim had previously filed a Protection from Abuse order (PFA) against Barnacastle.

Barnacastle was lodged in the Clarion County Jail after failing to post $5,000 cash bail.

She faces a preliminary hearing on April 25 at 1:30 p.m. with Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller presiding.
