Tuesday’s HS Baseball Roundup: Miller Paces Clarion Victory over Moniteau

BUTLER, Pa. (D9Sports) — Moved to the leadoff spot, Spencer Miller went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, three runs scored and two RBIs to lead Clarion to a 10-2 win over Moniteau at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler.

Sterling Conner was also 3-for-4 with three RBIS and a run scored for the Bobcats, while Cam Craig had a pair of RBIs and Ryan Anthony scored twice.

Reed Anthony was strong on the hill going five innings allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out seven. Conner finished off going two innings allowing on run on two hits and a walk while striking out three.

Nathan Sosigian had a triple and an RBI to pace Moniteau.

Nick Sosigian took the loss lasting 1 ⅓ innings and allowing four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out one.

REDBANK VALLEY 11, FOREST AREA 1, 5 INNINGS; REDBANK VALLEY 25, FOREST AREA 2, 3 INNINGS

OAK HILL, Pa. — Redbank Valley outscored Forest Area 36-3 in a doubleheader sweep of the visiting Fires.

The Bulldogs won game one 11-1 in five innings and game two 25-2 in three innings.

In the first game, Scott Toth hit a home run a drove in three runs while Blaney Brooks went four innings allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out four.

Noah Burke had an RBI for Forest Area.

In the second game, Redbank Valley scored nine in the first, nine more in the second and seven in the third.

Brian Layton and Jonah Henry each had doubles and four RBIs for the Bulldogs while Riley Robson drove in three runs as did Cole Wolbert. Ethan Reichard added a pair of RBIs.

KARNS CITY 10, NORTH CLARION 2

BUTLER, Pa. — Markus Lantz had two RBIs to help Karns City to a 10-2 win over visiting North Clarion at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler.

Tyler Yough was also 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI for the Gremlins with Jacob King adding a triple and an RBI.

Zander Hargenrader had a pair of RBIs for North Clarion.

Eric Dodd got the win going seven innings allowing two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out 10.

Noah Myers took the loss giving up eight runs, six earned, on five hits and three walks while striking out one in 1 ⅓ innings of work.
