Clarion Woman Breaks into Neighbor’s Apartment, Huffs Duster

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion woman is behind bars after she allegedly entered a neighbor’s apartment without permission on Thursday night.

According to court documents, criminal charges were filed against 51-year-old Melissa Ann Schill, of Clarion.

According to a criminal complaint, Clarion-based State Trooper Shapiro was on patrol when he received a call about a woman entering the kitchen window of man’s apartment at 437 South Second Avenue.

The victim told Trooper Shapiro that Melissa Schill entered his apartment window at approximately 9:34 p.m. with a can of duster in her hand. As she entered the building, she inserted the duster into her mouth and depressed the trigger while inhaling the chemical compound inside, the complaint states.

The victim told Schill to leave his apartment and that she was not welcome. Schill then yelled at the victim, asking if she could come in. The victim refused to let her come in, and Schill exited the window, went to the front of the apartment, and repeatedly hit the front door asking to come in, the complaint continues.

The victim told Schill to leave, which she ignored. After not being answered, Schill then returned to her apartment, the complaint states.

Schill allegedly admitted to Trooper Shapiro that she “inhaled the duster in order to get high.” One 12-ounce can of Ultra Duster Aerosol was in plain view on the bedroom floor in Schill’s apartment, the complaint indicates.

Schill was placed under arrest and taken to PSP Clarion.

She was arraigned in District Judge Timothy Schill’s office on the following charges:

– Burglary, Not Overnight Accommodations, Person Present, Felony 1
– Criminal Trespass — Enter Structure, Felony 3
– Loitering and Prowling at Night, Misdemeanor 3
– Smell/Inhale Toxic Releasing Substances, Misdemeanor 3
– Possession Solvent For Release of Toxic Vapors/Fumes, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment — Course of Conduct with No Legitimate Purpose, Summary
– Public Drunkenness and Similar Misconduct, Summary

Schill remains lodged in Clarion County Jail after failing to post $25,000.00 cash bail.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 2 at 10:15 a.m. with Judge Schill presiding.
