Born July 18, 1951, in Grove City, he was a son of Leason L. “Lee” and Elizabeth J. “Betty” Schultz Hartman.

In his early years, he worked for Kemco and also Flexospan, both of Sandy Lake.

He then went to work at Cooper-Bessemer of Grove City, where he worked as a machinist. He retired after 24 years from what became Cooper Energy.

Steve loved the outdoors and spent years fishing, hunting and spending time in his fishing boat with his boys. He had been a member of the Sandy Lake Sportsmen’s Club. He loved feeding and watching the birds.

He was a fan of the Steelers and Pirates and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Steve had a talent for woodworking and with his years of machining experience. He was very particular and took great pride in what he would build with wood and precision was never compromised.

Most of all, in later years, Steve loved the time he spent with his grandson, Dustin. He would make Steve’s day every time he saw him.

Steve married Donna Jean McCartney, Sept. 14, 1974, and she survives at home.

Also surviving are sons, Brian L. Hartman and Daniel P. Hartman; his mother, Betty Hartman, all of Stoneboro; two sisters, Cheryl A. (Michael) Barton of College Station, Texas, and Beth E. Hartman of Greenville; and a brother, David L. Hartman of Atlantic, Pa.
