Hit and Run Crash Sends Man to Hospital

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — A hit and run crash in Shippenville Tuesday afternoon sent one man to the hospital and police searching for the other vehicle.

The accident occurred in front of Sweet Basil Restaurant.

According to eyewitnesses at the scene, a gold-colored car that was driving south on Route 66 attempted to turn onto Amsler Road and hit a BMW motorcycle that was headed north. The motorcycle then apparently hit another car.

Shippenville-Elk Fire Chief Jeremy Hallberg said the man was conscious and alert as EMTs from Shippenville-Elk Volunteer Ambulance worked to place him on a backboard for transport from the scene.

“He was complaining of back and chest pain,” Hallberg said. “They were going to take him to Presby (Pittsburgh’s Presbyterian Hospital) to check him over.”

According to Clarion County 911, the unidentified man was flown from a nearby location.

The motorcycle, a touring-style bike, had a Kentucky license plate and had severe front-end damage.
