Monday’s HS Roundup: Clarion Shuts Down Redbank Valley

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) — Reed Anthony, Sterling Conner and Spencer Miller combined on two-hitter, as Clarion topped visiting Redbank Valley, 4-1, at the Clarion County Park.

Anthony went four innings to get the win allowing one unearned run on two hits and three walks while striking out eight. Conner picked up the hold going two innings of hitless ball walking one and striking out one. Miller then recorded the save throwing one inning and walking two while striking out two.

Skylar Rhoades had a pair of hits for the Bobcats, including a double, and scored a run. Reed Anthony helped his own cause with a hit and an RBI, while Cam Craig and Josh Craig also each had a single and an RBI.

Grayson Harman and Scott Toth had the hits for Redbank Valley with Harman scoring the Bulldogs run and Toth driving him home.

Bryan Layton took the loss going three innings and allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits while striking out three.

KARNS CITY 10, FOREST AREA 0, 6 INNINGS

BUTLER, Pa. — Jimmy Thompson tossed a six-inning no-hitter and also scored twice while going 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Karns City to a 10-0, six-inning win over visiting Forest Area at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler.

Only a Markus Lantz error kept Thompson from being perfect, as he walked no one and struck out 11.

Tyler Yough led the Karns City offense going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Lantz also drove in a pair of runs for the Gremlins, while Stephen O’Donnell scored twice and drove in one and Jacob Weckerly was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

CRANBERRY 8, A-C VALLEY 3

EMLENTON, Pa. — Cameron Daugherty had three hits and two RBIs to lead visiting Cranberry to an 8-3 win over A-C Valley.

Daugherty was 3-for-3 while scoring a run and stealing a base as well in the victory.

Four Cranberry pitchers combined on a two-hitter as well with Tommy Flinspach getting the win going five scoreless innings allowing one hit and two walks while striking out five. Brandon Forrest allowed three runs but no hits. He did walk five in ⅓ of an inning. Andrew Gunn and Nolan Brannon then pitched the final 1 ⅔ innings allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three.

Trevor Gladdin and Forrest each chipped in two hits for the Berries with Gladdin going 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored and Forrest 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Austin Kriebel and Joe Dehart had the hits for A-C Valley with Dehart and Sam Anderson adding RBIs.
