State Police Ask for Public’s Help in Finding Paint Township Hit-and-Run Driver

PAINT TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Paint Blvd. and Amsler Road, in Paint Township, Clarion County.

According to police, a four-vehicle accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on April 25. The vehicle that caused the collision fled the scene.

State Police say the other vehicles that were involved in the collision are a black Ford Explorer, driven by Christine D. Culbertson, of Rimersburg, Pa.; a red Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Cody D. Slater, of Marienville, Pa; and a BMW motorcycle, operated by James B. Keahey, of Harrodsburg, Ky.

The vehicle that fled the scene is a gold/tan/brown Chevrolet Cavalier. It is suspected that the vehicle sustained significant front-end damage from the crash, according to police.

Details of the Crash

The suspect vehicle (a gold/tan/brown Chevrolet Cavalier) was traveling south on Paint Blvd. and Culbertson’s Ford Explorer was traveling behind it. Slater’s red Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling north behind a Keahey’s motorcycle, which was turning right (east) onto Amsler Road from the northbound lane of Paint Blvd.

As the motorcycle was turning, the suspect vehicle turned left onto Amsler Road from the southbound lane. The red Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling north past Amsler Road at the time. The suspect vehicle struck the motorcycle and continued onto Amsler Road, striking the red Chevrolet Cavalier. The suspect vehicle continued to travel east on Amsler Road and did not come to a final rest, fleeing the scene.

At the point of impact, the motorcycle (operated by Keahey) continued to travel north on Paint Blvd. striking the Ford Explorer (driven by Culbertson).

Culbertson (Ford Explorer) and Slater (red Chevrolet Cavalier) were using seat belts and suffered no injuries, according to police.

Keahey was transported to UPMC Presbyterian for suspected minor injuries.

He was using a motorcycle helmet.

Officers from the Clarion County Sheriff’s Department; the Shippenville-Elk Volunteer Fire Department; and Shippenville EMS assisted at the scene.
