Rimersburg Man Arrested After Allegedly Striking, Attempting to Strangle Sister

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — A Rimersburg man is behind bars after he allegedly tried to strangle his sister on Friday, April 28, at her residence in Strattanville.

According to court documents, Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 22-year-old Thomas James Anthony, of Rimersburg.

According to a criminal complaint, at 2:17 p.m. on April 29, Clarion-based State Trooper Sommers was called to the residence of a known female regarding an assault. The victim told Trooper Sommers that she arrived home around 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, after class and saw that her brother Thomas James Anthony was there.

She stated that she asked her brother numerous times to leave prior to going to her class. At this time, she went upstairs to grab Anthony’s belongings and remove them from her house. When Anthony saw his sister start to pack his things, he confronted her, the complaint states.

The victim stated that Anthony pushed her, and she pushed him back. He then proceeded to throw her to the ground, get on top of her, strangle her with his hands, and strike her with a closed fist in the face twice. Then, Anthony let her back up, and she began packing his things once again. Anthony proceeded to throw her onto the bed and strike her in the face again, according to the complaint.

At this time, the victim asked her fiancé, who was in the room, to help her get Anthony out of the house. The known man got Anthony out of the residence and told him he could remain outside until he was picked up. At midnight, Anthony was picked up by his younger brother.

Based on the information and evidence viewed by Trooper Sommers, he requested an arrest warrant for Anthony.

Anthony was arraigned at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, in front of District Judge Duane Quinn on the following charges:

– Strangulation

– Simple Assault

– Harassment, Summary

Unable to post $25,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.
