Wednesday’s High School Softball Roundup: Wetzel Helps A-C Valley Put Out Fire

TIONESTA, Pa. (D9Sports) — Emily Wetzel had herself a game in a 14-3 A-C Valley road win over Forest Area at West Forest.

Wetzel was 4-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, two stolen bases and two RBIs and also was the winning pitcher tossing 5 ⅓ innings of scoreless relief allowing one unearned run while striking out six.

She had plenty of help on offense.

Kylee Eaton went 3-for-3 with a triple, a stolen base and three RBIs, Cam McNany also drove in three runs while going 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and a stolen base. Annie Viertel (2-for-4, double, stolen base) and Myia Page (1-for-3, double) also had a pair of RBIs, while Kelsie Terwilliger was 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored and Elyssa Papucci was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base.

CRANBERRY 3, CLARION 1

SENECA, Pa. — Natalie Barcinas pitched a four-hitter to lead Cranberry to a 3-1 win over visiting Clarion.

Barcinas gave up one run while walking two and striking out five.

Libby Kiefer was 2-for-3 with a triple with her courtesy runner, Elaine Kahle, scoring a run. Rachel McCauley added a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Malliah Schreck and Nicole Hutchinson both doubled. Schreck scored a run and Hutchinson drove one home for the Berries who scored once in the first, once in the fourth and once in the fifth.

Clarion, whose lone run came in the second, got a 2-for-3 performance from Kate Constantino, who scored the Lady Cats run. MaKenzie Ditullio had the RBI.

Sadie Rudesyle took the loss allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two.
