LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Clarion seniors Tyler Falk and Kane McCall were named to the PSAC Baseball West Division All-Conference second team, the conference announced Monday.

The award is the first of McCall’s Clarion career and the second for Falk, who earned second-team honors back in 2014 as well.
McCall, a right-handed starting pitcher from Union High school, was the main workhorse for the CU defense in 2017, making ten starts and twelve overall appearances on the bump for CU. His 46 strikeouts rank 25th amongst all PSAC hurlers, and first amongst all Clarion pitchers. McCall threw over 60 innings in 2017 for Clarion, with his strongest outing being his seven-inning complete game against Pitt-Johnstown that saw the Rimbersburg, Pa. native strike out four and scatter nine hits in an eventual 3-1 loss. McCall finished the season with a 4.60 ERA, the only Clarion pitcher to start ten games.
Falk, a first-basemen, led CU in multiple offensive categories. His .375 batting average paced all Golden Eagles in 2017, as did his .539 slugging percentage and .491 on-base percentage. Batting second in the order, Falk finished just one RBI behind John Finke and Joe Lopez for the team lead with 17 runs batted in, and his 30 walks are twice as many as the second-highest total on the team. He second all-time in program batting average (.370), total hits (177), and games started (151), as well as third all-time in on-base percentage (.451), games played (152), runs scored (86), RBI’s (90), and total bases (252). His .375 average in 2017 was the 18th highest mark in the entire PSAC conference.
EDGAR IN 36TH AT NCAA MEN’S GOLF REGIONAL
DANIELS, W. Va. — Clarion University senior Sean Edgar completed day one of competition at the NCAA Atlantic/Eastern Regional Tournament Monday afternoon, shooting a 77 (+5) to put him in a tie for 36th overall in the individual standings and second overall in individual entries.
The three-day competition continues tomorrow beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Glade Springs resort.
Edgar, the lone Golden Eagle to qualify for regionals, birdied holes two and nine to finish the front nine at +2 (38) before a trio of carding a trio of bogies on holes 10, 14, and 16 to finish at 77 on the day. Edgar will tee-off tomorrow at 8:40 a.m. from hole one to begin day two of competition.
