Wednesday’s Softball Roundup: Shumaker Drives in Four in Redbank Valley Victory

KNOX, Pa. (D9Sports) — Maycee Shumaker hit a three-run home run and went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs to lead visiting Redbank Valley to an 8-3 win over Keystone.

Kara Hicks added a 2-for-3 day with a double, two runs scored and an RBI for the Lady Bulldogs, while Kaia Rearick was 1-for-4 with a run scored and Becca Kunselman scored a run.

Jessi Phillipi and Makena Stiller were both 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for Keystone.

Alyssa Burkett got the win going the distance allowing three runs, two earned, on eight hits and two walks while striking out six.

Stiller took the loss going seven innings allowing eight runs, five earned. She walked one and struck out none.

CLARION 11, A-C VALLEY 4

PARKER, Pa. — Clarion picked up its third win in four tries with an 11-4 win at A-C Valley paying back the Lady Falcons for a loss earlier this season at Clarion.

Carly Best led the way for the Lady Cats going 4-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. MacKenzie DiTullio added a pair of doubles in four at-bats with a run scored and an RBI, while Maya Thornton, Kate Constantino and Sydney Kiser each drove in two runs.

Thornton was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, Kate Constantino was 1-for-5 and Kiser was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Also for Clarion, Cora Zerfoss went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, Alexis Constantino was 2-for-4 with a walk and Sadie Rudesyle scored twice.

Emma Wetzel was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored for A-C Valley, while Cami McNany went 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBIs. Kylee Eaton chipped in a double and a run scored.

MONITEAU 10, KARNS CITY 0, 6 INNINGS

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. — Kristina DeMatteis hit three home runs while going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and five RBIs to lead Moniteau to a 10-0 win over visiting Karns City.

Dolcey Shunk added a 3-for-3 day with a run scored and two RBIs for the Lady Warriors, while Gabby Stewart and Cortney Claypoole each had two hits.

Stewart was 2-for-4 with a run scored with Claypoole going 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI. Megan Hepler added a double for Moniteau, and Amanda Dailey singled and scored twice.

Alyssa Stitt had a double for Karns City.

Kennedy DeMatteis was brilliant again in the circle going six innings allowing three hits and a walk while striking out 16.

Logan Byers took the loss going four innings allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits. She struck out three.

CRANBERRY 15, FOREST AREA 0, 3 INNINGS

SENECA, Pa. — Hannah Duncan had a pair of double, two RBIs and two runs scored to help Cranberry to a 15-0, three-inning win over visiting Forest Area.

Kaylee Weaver was also 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs for the Berries, while Natalie Barcinas went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Also for Cranberry, Nicole Hutchinson was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

Jailia Guzzi was 1-for-2 with a double for Forest Area.

Malliah Schreck, who went 1-for-1 with a triple, two walks, an RBI and three runs scored, got her first varsity win going three shutout innings allowing two hits while striking out two.

Jasmine Ginnery took the loss allowing 15 runs on 16 hits and three walks while striking out one.
