Sawmill Center to Hold Folk Music Competition Saturday

COOKSBURG, Pa. –  The Sawmill Center for the Arts will hold a Folk Music Competition on Saturday, May 13 starting at 10 a.m.

  Three divisions will compete for $1,000 in prize money:  fiddle, guitar and banjo/mandolin.

Any musician wishing to compete can register by calling (814) 752-2959.  Registrations will also be accepted the day of the event beginning at 12 noon.

The public is invited to come and enjoy the music.  There will also be crafters and food vendors on hand.  Admission is free, and this event will be held rain or shine.

At 6 p.m., a “Hoe Down Square Dance” will be held in the Sawmill’s large instruction room.  Attendees are invited to stay and dance. Spectators are welcome.

The Sawmill Center has several unique festivals planned for the 2017 season.
