Janet Joan (Ansel) Wolbert

Janet Joan (Ansel) Wolbert, age 78, a former resident of Lucinda, Pennsylvania, and most recently of Newport News, Virginia, peacefully passed away in her home on Saturday, May 13, 2017, following an extended illness.

Born April 18, 1939 in Clarion, Pennsylvania, Janet was the daughter of the late John William and Minnie (Harrison) Ansel.

She graduated from Clarion-Limestone High School in 1957 and worked in food service, retail, and payroll throughout her career.

Janet was married to Richard Wolbert Jr. of Lucinda, Pennsylvania, on July 12, 1958.

Janet’s hobbies included quilting, crocheting, Bingo, game shows, soap operas, and employment.

She made quilts and crocheted afghans for family and friends throughout her life and her memory will live on in her handiwork.

Janet is survived by her husband Richard and three children: Richard Wolbert III of Dubois, Pennsylvania; Kathleen (James C.) Beveridge of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Rita Heinrich of Newport News, Virginia.

Janet is also survived by nine grandchildren: Richard Wolbert IV, Marybeth (Daniel) Wolbert Richardson, Ben Wolbert, Kaylee Wolbert, Jennifer Beveridge, Joseph (Joanna) Beveridge, Julie Beveridge, Jacob Heinrich, and Trey Heinrich.

Janet is also survived by a sister, Rose (Jim) Gould of Shippenville, Pennsylvania, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Edward Wolbert, and a brother, John William Ansel, Jr.

Services will be held at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, Newport News, Virginia on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 12:00 noon. Weymouth Funeral Home of Newport News is handling arrangements.

Interment will be at St. Jerome’s Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to help others facing serious illness.
