Dollar General Stores Coming to Fryburg, Limestone, and Strattanville

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — The Clarion County Planning Commission gave preliminary approval on Wednesday night for three new Dollar General Stores in Clarion County.

The three stores — to be located in Fryburg, Limestone, and near Strattanville — will be 9,100 square foot buildings with additional acreage for parking. The three projects received preliminary approval for land development.

Two other store locations opened in recent years in Leeper and Rimersburg.

The Fryburg store will be located across from First United National Bank along Route 208 at its intersection with Route 157.  Weaver Holdings LLC. with equitable owner Fryburg DPP, LLC. submitted the proposal.  The project also received approval for modifications related to the percentage of interior parking green space required and relief from the minimum 40 ft. side and rear setback requirements.

The Limestone Township location will be constructed along Route 66 across from Palmer’s Store in a lot once occupied by the Midway Drive-In.  Proposing the project was John A. Morris with equitable owner Clarion (Limestone) DPP, LLC. No modifications were required by the ordinance.

The third new store will be located along Route 322 at the site of the long-gone Clarion Motel near Strattanville.  The project was submitted by Sam’s Service Station with equitable owner Clarion (Strattanville) DDP, LLC.  No modifications were required by the ordinance.

The decision to add three more Dollar General Stores in Clarion County originated from the store’s corporate plan.

“Dollar General’s philosophy is we’re trying to serve rural communities, and we’re typically trying to target customers within a three to five-mile radius or a 10-minute drive,” said Mary Kathryn Colbert, Dollar General Corporation Communications Coordinator, in an earlier news article.
