CRANBERRY, Pa. — The Clarion County YMCA and Oil City YMCA have announced the winners of their 2017 Summer Day Camp Essay Contest.

Children in Clarion and Venango counties were asked to write an essay explaining why Summer Day Camp would benefit them.

Jocalyn Henry a sixth grader from Clarion-Limestone Elementary won the week of YMCA Summer Day Camp in Clarion County.

“It would give me an opportunity to interact with nature,” said Jocalyn Henry.

“Most kids hate being outside in the heat when they could be in a cool house with technology. A week away from technology and closer to nature would help open my eyes to how wonderful the great outdoors can be.”

Kye Winslow a ten year-old from Valley Grove Elementary won the week of YMCA Summer Day Camp in Venango County.

“I would get to spend a whole week at Camp Coffman and have a lot of time to explore,” said Winslow. “I would like to climb the rock wall.”
